Claire Lynch Songwriting Workshop

Unnamed Venue Waltham, MA

Claire Lynch will be leading a Songwriting Workshop in the afternoon from 1pm to 4pm in Waltham, MA.  The Songwriting workshop will cover tips and information for writing a solid song. Some subjects covered will be Line Construction, Focus, Lyric Relation to Melody, Rhythm and Rhyme, The Re-writing Process and Simplicity of Communication. Time permitting, Claire will offer insights on "Co-writing". Students will be encouraged to present their songs for helpful comments and constructive criticism. Q&A and group discussion will also be encouraged. If you are interested in having a song commented on,  would simply like to develop your language and skills around songwriting or network with other songwriters / cowriters,  this is an excellent opportunity in an intimate setting. Roland White Workshop

Brookline Private Home Brookline, MA

Roland White is coming to town - he'll be giving a three-hour mandolin workshop and concert in Brookline on May 10 - Saturday afternoon, 11am to 2pm. He'll be appearing with guitarist Diane Bouska. At 2pm they've give a short concert as part of the day's activities. If you haven't been in one of Roland's workshops yet, he's a great teacher - and the real thing, when it comes to passing on bluegrass traditions. Cost is $60 for BBU members, $70 for non-members. New Bedford Folk Festival

New Bedford Whaling National Park New Bedford Historical District, New Bedford , MA

– The New Bedford Folk Festival will celebrate its milestone 20th Anniversary from Saturday July 4 through Sunday July 5, 2015 with an impressive lineup of the best in contemporary, Americana, traditional,  blues and Celtic folk music.  Folk icon Tom Rush and Grammy Award winner John Hammond, are joined by over 50 performers and groups including Susan Werner, Patty Larkin, Catie Curtis, The Nields, Peter Mulvey, Vance Gilbert, The Boxcar Lilies, the Welsh group Calan, folk and jazz fiddler Jeremy Kittel and many more. The festival runs from 11 am to 9 pm both days and is located in the Zeiterion Performing Arts Center and the Whaling National Historical Park in New Bedford, Massachusetts.
