BGRASS-L

The purpose of BGRASS-L is to be a forum for discussion of:

1. Bluegrass and Old-Time music in general, including but not limited to recordings, bands, individual performers, live performances, publications, business aspects, venues, history, and ethical issues. Early commercial country music is also an acceptable topic.

2. Issues related to the International Bluegrass Music Association (IBMA)

The list is open to anyone with an interest in BG and/or OT music. The number of subscribers is approximately 1100

COMANDO-L

COMANDO-L is a discussion group for mandolin players. Most of the contributors are bluegrass pickers, but there is frequent discussion of other genres such as swing, jazz, old-time, classical, etc.

BANJO-L

BANJO-L was created in January 1996 to be a discussion group "for devotees of all sorts and styles of banjos, banjo music, artists, accessories, history, and any other subject related to the venerable instrument”. Much of the discussion revolves around 5-string bluegrass banjo.

FLATPICK-L
(for guitar players)

FLATPICK-L is an Internet mailing list for the discussion of the style of acoustic guitar playing known as "flatpicking." This term is taken to include bluegrass, old-time, fiddle tunes, acoustic swing and jazz, "new acoustic music," newgrass, flatpicked Celtic styles, etc. We're talking here about the acoustic guitar styles played by the likes of Clarence White, Norman Blake, Tony Rice, Doc Watson, Steve Kaufman, David Grier, Beppe Gambetta, Dan Crary, Joe Carr, Barry Solomon, and so forth.
