Each year we present Heritage Awards to artists, promoters, and other groups and individuals who have made a lasting contribution to bluegrass in New England.

Our 2012 recipients are The Crooker Family (industry) and Bill Keith and Jim Rooney (artists).

This year we will again have a great selection of instruments, accessories, instructional materials, historical and contemporary bluegrass photographs, books and other bluegrass related items available for sale in the festival’s Vendor Expo.

Vendors 2012

Aspiring musicians age 5-17 take instrument workshops from professional musicians Friday evening to Sunday morning, and then perform on the main Stage Sunday at 12pm. A great learning experience for all!

Kids Academy 2012

The Sheraton Framingham is only 20 minutes west of downtown Boston, MA and converniently located near several airports. Festival is accessible from the MBTA Framingham Commuter Rail. Sheraton Hotel can arrange for a shuttle pickup with 2 hour notice. 508-879-7200.

Festival Schedule

We host paid Master Class and Fast Track! classes, held on Friday, February 17th during the day (before the festival begins later that evening). We also offer free instrument, vocal, jamming, and music business workshops during the festival.

Master Classes are intermediate to advanced skill level, and Fast Track! classes are for beginners and advanced beginners.  In 2012 we will have Claire Lynch on songwriting, Mark Schatz on bass, Darol Anger on fiddle, Jesse Cobb on mandolin, Greg Cahill on banjo, bluegrass jamming with Tony Watt, August Watters on mandolin, Seth Austen on fiddle, Rich Stillman on banjo, and Beverly Woods assisted by Nancy Harrowitz on singing.

2006 IBMA Event of the Year
Join the Boston Bluegrass Union and celebrate the legacy of the late Joe Val with three big days of bluegrass at the Sheraton Framingham. We have expanded workshops, educational programs, a great lineup of national and regional talent, music vendors, and around the clock picking. Our 2006 festival won the coveted "Event of the Year" award from the International Bluegrass Music Association.
