The Boston Bluegrass Union runs a host of educational activities for participants of all ages.  Donations, grants and instrument raffles and auction proceeds help fund the Joe Val Kid’s Academy, monthly kid’s jams, Boston Front Porch program for college age players, our Adult Academy classes, artist workshops, outreach programs, teacher training activities and Bluegrass in the Schools programs.

Again this year Martin Guitars and Eastman Strings donated two fine instruments to help fund our educational programs.   We are auctioning the instruments through a silent auction opening Sunday, February 13, 2011 and running through auction close at 3:00pm Eastern Standard Time on Sunday, February 20, 2011.  The auction winners will be announced at 4:30pm on Sunday, February 20, 2011 at the Joe Val Festival and also posted to this web page.  There is a reserve price for each instrument and the BBU reserves the right not to transact if the reserve price is not met. Festival is not required to bid or win the auction.

Bidding:

Bidding can be done in person at the Joe Val Festival or via binding email bids.  Festival attendees can fill out sealed bids at the raffle table at the back of the concert hall until auction close.  Non-festival/concert attendees can also participate by submitting electronic, binding email bids up till auction close via the following email addresses:
