The Boston Bluegrass Union runs a host of educational activities for participants of all ages.  Donations, grants and instrument raffles and auction proceeds help fund the Joe Val Kid’s Academy, monthly kid’s jams, Boston Front Porch program for college age players, our Adult Academy classes, artist workshops, outreach programs, teacher training activities and Bluegrass in the Schools programs.

This year Martin Guitars and Eastman Strings donated two fine instruments to help fund our educational programs.   We are auctioning the instruments through a silent auction opening February 13th and running through auction close at 3:00pm Eastern Standard Time on Sunday February 17th.  The auction winners will be announced at this year’s Joe Val Festival at 3:45pm EDT and also posted to this web page.  There is a reserve price for each instrument.  Festival attendance is not required to bid or win the auction.

Bidding:

Bidding can be done in person through sealed bid at the Joe Val Festival at the raffle table up to 3pm EDT on February 17th.  Non-festival attendees can also participate by submitting electronic, binding email bids up till 3pm EDT via the following email addresses:
