Dick Bowden is a New England bluegrass legend, and he’s put together a special group to pay tribute to the great Don Stover.

The members of Dick Bowden’s Flying Circus are:

Dave Shaw-fiddle, of Bear Bridge Band and Bear Minimum, from New Hampshire

Lillian Fraker – bass fiddle, of Bear Bridge Band and The Old Time Bluegrass Singers, from Massachusetts

Dave Dillon – guitar, of Don Stover’s White Oak Mt. Boys and Joe Val’s New England Bluegrass Boys, plus the Reunion Band, from Massachusetts

Phil Zimmerman – mandolin, of Last Fair Deal, from Connecticut

Dick Bowden – banjo, of the Berkshire Mt. Boys, Joe Val’s New England Bluegrass Boys, The Case Brothers, and The Old Time Bluegrass Singers, from Maine and Connecticut

All the members of the Flying Circus have a deep connection to the music and genial personality of the late great Don Stover and his music.   The Flying Circus will do a program composed completely of music from Don Stover’s long career in New England Bluegrass, from Lilly Brothers songs to his own personal repertoire.  Dick plays 3 finger and clawhammer banjo tunes in Don’s style, and all the members of the Flying Circus will join in the harmonies of Don’s vocal favorites.   And perhaps a bit of something “completely different”…
